Bala was an amazing guide! He was extremely genuine, kind, and knowledgeable. He made sure to always keep the environment surrounding us clean, picking up trash along the way. You can tell that he has a passion for educating his clients, and we truly learned to see Nepal from a deeper and more multifaceted lense because of all the personal anecdotes and life experiences that only a local would have in the Kumbu Region. I always felt that he remained professional, but was still very personable. Overall he was very attentive to our needs, and I’d definitely come back to Nepal to do another trip with Bala!

Bala took such wonderful care of us. We had NO issues with altitude sickness and he was very attentive to making sure we stayed healthy to be to fully enjoy what he so enthusiastically shared with us. With him we felt as if we were totally immersed with the locals. He shared so much of his Sherpa culture, history, religion. He had friends who were working on the Mt. Everest summits at the time and shared their news so we felt part of their experience. Bala is a consummate professional as a guide. We were so blessed to have the pleasure of him guiding us.

Bala was an outstanding trip leader! As a sherpa and former resident of Namche Bazaar, he was eager to share his culture with us, including taking us to the Saturday market, bringing us to the local monastery to receive a blessing by the local lama, taking us for tea with the locals, and bringing us to visit his former elementary school. As a student of sociology and anthropology, Bala was also very knowledgable and willing to share information about the history, culture, and socio-political situation in Nepal, which greatly enriched the experience.
