Casa Velha do Palheiro

This tranquil country house hotel, a restored 18th-century hunting lodge, is set in the Palheiro Nature Estate in the foothills of Funchal. More than 12 miles of hiking trails surround the lodge (great for birdwatching), and there are two swimming pools.
