Set on the Strait of Gibraltar in the heart of the Tangier medina, this is the Grand Dame of Tangier's hotels, built in 1930 by a British aristocrat in lavish Hispano-Moorish style. Just steps from the medina, it is a peaceful oasis with comfortable rooms and excellent service. The bar conjures up visions of the film Casablanca and the patios and terraces are wonderful, with views stretching from the Bay of Tangiers to the Strait of Gibraltar and the Rif Mountains.
