Hoanib River Valley, Namibia
Hoanib Valley Camp is “clean and green,'' leaving virtually no footprint on this fragile eco-system. It is a joint venture between local communities and the Giraffe Conservation Foundation, whose research focuses on the desert-adapted giraffe of the Hoanib while helping monitor elephant and general game in the area as well. The camp sits on the banks of the Obias River overlooking the ephemeral Hoanib River. There are six spacious tented rooms set on platforms, each with its own private veranda, and meals are served around an open campfire.
