The Hotel Sofitel Metropole is a French colonial-style hotel built at the turn of the century by two private French investors. It's considered Hanoi's “grand old dame” and its guest list has included presidents, ambassadors, and royalty, as well as authors Somerset Maugham and Graham Greene.
